Government donates 5000 Hass avocado seedlings to households in Marsabit

The government through the ministry of Agriculture will support 10,000 households in the dry Marsabit County with kitchen garden starter kits in order to ensure food and nutrition security for the future says Chief administrative secretary (CAS) Anne Nyaga.

While handing over over 5000 Hass avocado seedlings in Marsabit County, the CAS also engaged with the youth on how they can benefit from the Enable youth program which shall create gainful employment, generate income for the youth and bridge succession gap in agribusiness and related value chains. The program shall be launched later this year, she said.

She talked about the rebranding and revival of the 4-K Clubs in a bid to inculcate the culture of farming for food sufficiency and change the negative perception towards agriculture from an early age. Through these initiatives, young children will be able to learn and transfer new farming technologies to their communities.
