Mega Pack (K) Ltd; 15 Years of GOING BEYOND THE BOX
With over 15 years since setting up their factory, this is a scintillating story of resilience, innovation, and passion that has defined Mega pack (K) Limited. The corrugated board manufacturing company is based in Nakuru and specializes in a wide variety of high-quality boxes.
The company is an idea that was conceived by Mr K. Shah as a diversification plan under the mother company Mega Spin Group which initially was embroider in thread and blanket manufacturing. Since then, Mega Spin Group has undergone a series of changes to become a multi-faceted industrial conglomerate with its own state of the art corrugated carton plant, paper mill and three flower farms. Today, Mega Spin Group is a leader in these industries, and its products are sold in East Africa and around the world.
With major companies rushing to Nairobi to set up base, Mega Pack (K) Ltd settled for Nakuru to ward off competition. Nakuru, is a busy commercial and transport centre for Western-Central Kenya. Nearby attractions include Lake Nakuru National Park, known for its hundreds of species of birds, the Hyrax Hill prehistoric site, and the immense Menengai Crater.
According to Akash Shah, they had to look for innovative ways of enabling those clients who could not access Nairobi to purchase from them. One of the greatest strengths of Mega Pack (K) Ltd is that they are flexible and are able to act quickly, adapt to changes and circumstances.
“The fact that we have been in existence for 15 years tells a lot about how we adopt to situations, how we improve, innovate and how we are always on the look out for new ways of doing business. We look for sustainable relationships with our customers. We are looking at our business models, not only in the processes but also in our strategy” said Akash Shah Director at Mega Pack (K) Ltd.
“We believe that every product is unique and the packaging should reflect this fact. We therefore pride ourselves on our individualized approach to each project.
With over 15 years of experience, we have the expertise and technical know-how to produce a wide variety of high-quality packaging solutions for an assortment of industries,” he continued.
There has been a lot of new packaging technologies. With paper being exorbitant and people guarding on cutting of trees, the company has gone a notch higher in recycling paper to cut on wastages.
Currently, the company has a production capacity of approximately 1200 metric tons per month, and they are geared and ready to increase this by 600metric tones monthly. They have world-class machinery and highly trained staff a perfect combination to ensuring great results. To increase efficiency, Mega Pack (K) Ltd has invested in a new 7 colour printing machine.
“We serve a wide range of customers in various industries; footwear, Fmcg, floriculture, dairy, garments, beverages, food and confectionaries, just to name a few. We have had the pleasure to work with some of the well established companies in Kenya.” he cited.
After being ranked the 11th best company in Kenya at the KPMG top 100 mid-sized company’s award, 2014/15 and now being part of the KPMG CLUB 101, the company is constantly striving to remain as the most trusted partner through consistent quality and on time delivery.
