County avocado farmers to enjoy better prices- new deal

Avocado farmers in Mathioya will now enjoy enjoy better prices after Kiru Member of County Assembly (MCA) Morris Thuku, facilitated them to sign a new deal with an exporter who assured them of increased earnings.

The new deal between over 500 farmers and KEITT Exporters Ltd based in Nairobi, farmers will be able to get new prices ranging between Sh15 and 20, up from Sh11 per piece, which they have been selling in the past.

According to Thuku who helped in in the formation of Mathioya Avocado Farmers’ Cooperative Society said the new prices will be implemented in two weeks’ time urging farmers not to rush to harvest their Hass avocados but wait to enjoy increased prices.
